In addition to providing educational grants and contributions to various charitable organizations, the Stock Show maintains a variety of scholarship programs through various Stock Show departments. Each department is responsible for raising their scholarship funds each year and the scholarships are awarded by the various department superintendents and are based on department specific goals. All scholarships awarded have expiration dates. Upon expiration, any unused scholarship funds are reapplied to the awarding department available scholarship funds.

Placement

The Stock Show is classified as a public charity under section a 2 on the Internal Revenue Code and therefore is exempt from federal income tax under section c 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the Stock Show are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. The Stock Show classifies funds received by donors for the purpose of funding scholarships as Temporarily Restricted Net Assets.

The Stock Show uses these assets for their donor designated purpose. The various Stock Show scholarship programs consist of the following:. Promoting Mechanics, Agriculture, Development and Eduction through youth scholarships.

In addition to the Stock Show Scholarship Programs, the Stock Show supports several organizations and their existing programs. A donation to our general scholarship fund will be distributed via one of the following organizations: Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

The various Stock Show scholarship programs consist of the following: The competition, open to ALL students ages that are currently enrolled in a Texas Public, Private, Charter or Home school in grades Kindergarten — twelfth, presents an opportunity to showcase artistic abilities and offers a great chance to win awards, college scholarships or cash prizes.

Additionally, select qualifying non-placing entries will be showcased as a special exhibit at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. For the Calf Scramble event, eight calves are placed in the arena and the 16 youngsters must try to catch, halter and lead one of the eight calves into a square in the center of the arena.

The contest is over once all eight calves have been taken to the square. The youngsters use this certificate to purchase their own beef or dairy heifer. The youngsters do not keep the calf they caught in the rodeo. Once the student has located a heifer he or she wishes to purchase, they present to the seller of the animal the certificate provided by the Stock Show. On the Educational Information Challenge portion of the contest a maximum of points will be scored.

Sales Talk presentations will be scored a maximum of 50 points, 10 points based on presentation and 40 points based on content. Net proceeds from the annual tournament will benefit the following Scholarship Programs: E competition will be open to all Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show Junior Agricultural Mechanics Show exhibitors that are currently enrolled in their senior year of high school and have shown in the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show Junior Agricultural Mechanics Show a minimum of two 2 years.

Educational Information and Verbal Presentation. Educational Information — consists of 50 questions based on selected units from Agricultural Mechanics Fundamentals and Applications6 th Edition by Ray V. On the Educational Information portion of the contest a maximum of points will be scored. Verbal Presentation — the top participants from the Educational Information section will make a verbal presentation over the design and construction of their current Ag Mechanics Project.

This presentation must be 3 minutes or less and be made without the assistance of written or visual aids.

A panel of 3 industry judges will evaluate the presentations on a point scale. The Agricultural Development Fund is classified as a c 3 corporation by the Internal Revenue Service, and its funds are administered by its officers and directors. A special fund that provides significant financial benefits to junior livestock exhibitors in the form of above-market prices for their prize-winning animals that do not qualify to be sold at the Junior Sale of Champions but are sold during the Stock Show via a posted price for each species.
